About the NMA/ Filmmaking
Created in 1999, the New Media Academy (NMA) implements current trends in education, providing a college preparatory education with a focus on "real world," career skills. As a small learning community, the Media Academy makes its home in a “state of the art” studio where one can find the students creating web pages, editing videos, and working on all of their class projects.
The Curriculum
Narrative films,scripts and storytelling; Interrupting Literature through Video;Commercials; Music Videos, Genre Studies, Newscasts; Propaganda techniques & commercial production; Public Service Announcement (PSA) production; Development of media literacy; evaluation & criticism.
Technical Instruction
Camera Operation, Lighting,; Cinematography; Directing & Framing; Sound; Storyboarding; Scriptwriting and Development; Production Logistics (budgets, scheduling, releases, etc); Post Production (logging tapes, editing, special effects, sound, titles).
